Aspect and structure:

  • The (non-perforated) facing brick is sanded on five sides.
  • The surface may be given a frog (a slanted oblong groove) on its bed.
  • The structure looks rugged with fine and irregular grooves in the sandy surface.
  • The firing process takes place in a gas-heated tunnel kiln.
  • One in four bricks is made with a sand layer that is mixed with coal.
  • This results in bricks with coal on the surface.
  • The baking process pulverises the coal, which creates holes that vary in size.
  • Sometimes these holes remain filled with pulverised coal, but it is also possible that the coal drops out of the holes.
  • These holes are inherent in the product.
  • If a customer finds that the holes in some bricks are too large or off-putting, they may choose to have the visible side reworked so it is more aesthetic.
  • The presence of coal holes is purely aesthetic and does not detract from the quality of the brick.

Colour:

  • The different types of sand provide colours that vary from white to grey, alternated with light grey and dark shades, in which the white deposits are clearly present.
  • The different structures are the result of sawdust on the one hand and white, fine-grained sand on the other.
  • The colours shown are a near reflection of reality.

Other sizes are available on request starting from 2,000 m². Size variations may occur when blending brick types of different clay colours. Depending on the series the size may differ.
